All transceivers operate on a 457KHz frequency and all makes and models are compatible with each other. Tripple antenna units also out-perform their dual antenna rivals. The fastest search times are now achieved by those units that also include W-Link technology. This is because the data is updated via the conventional 457 KHz frequency as well as a Wi-Fi (W-Link) frequency. Units with this technology also have internal compasses meaning they take the rescuer straight to the buried victim rather than along the sweeping arc of a flux line. As far as we are aware, only the Mammut Pulse and the Arva Link are currently using this licensed W-Link/Pulse technology. Excellent lower cost alternatives to these units is the Arva 3 Axes or the BCA DTS Tracker 2 which use the same tripple antenna technology, but save on cost by not including an internal compass or the licensed W-LInk technology. These cheaper units tend to use simpler illuminated LED indicators for direction and bring the rescuer to the victim along the sweeping arc of a flux line, as opposed to a direct line, they do however display real time distance just as the better units do. We no longer stock or recommend pure analog or dual antenna devices as recent improvements in technology have made the modern units much easier and safer to use in the hands of the occasional user or unskilled hands - Remember - in a rescue situation - every second counts !
