New this season, the Trab Volare is a true afficianado's ski. Amazingly light for a ski of this width, the Trab Volare is likely to become an iconic ski amongst Free Riders and Ski Mountaineers. We managed to test the Trab Volare last season and it performed outstandingly well in a wide variety of terrain and snow conditions, even breakable crust. Agile, light and nimble in soft snow the Volare facilitates effortless turns in powder. The longer 23 to 29 meter turn radius, shallow side-cut and a torsionally stiff carbon fibre reinfirced core, of the Trab Volare proivide unrivalled edge grip/contact on steep icy exposed surfaces. The Trab Volare is a great choice for Free Riders, Ski Mountaineers and Telemarkers wanting a high performance, wide, lightweight ski, without compromising reliability and durability.
Trab skis are arguably some of the best quality skis available and the Volare is no exception. Constructed from 14 layers of Ash, Aramid, carbon Fibre and glass Fibre, rubber and steel, the Volare is hand assembled in the Trab factory in Bormio Italy. These skis are built with performance, durability and quality in mind. Two of our staff are using the Volare this season.
For Free Ride/Off Piste skiing. The Trab Volare excells at ripping steep lines down Off Piste terrain. These skis perform effortlessly in soft snow, yet are torsionally stiff enough to give confidence, security and unrivalled edge grip on steep icy exposed slopes. These skis are not over stiff, so they might be over powered by those seeking super high speed crud-busting skis, however for most of us mere mortals the Trab Volare is a great choice.
For Ski Mountaineering. The Trab Volare is probably one of the best choices for Ski Mountaineers seeking pure performance in a wide range of snow and terrain commonly found on ski tour. The Volare's longer radius gives greater contact on steep icy terrain and offers superb edge grip. These skis handled well in most conditions even breakable crust ! The only choice now is Dynafit or Fritschi bindings !
For Telemarking. The Trab Volare is suitable for both beginner and advanced Telemarkers. The Volare carves well on piste and is ideal for most Telemark skiers. However hard charging, fast, aggressive piste Telemarkers may wish to consider a slightly stiffer ski with more vibration damping. The Trab Volare is ideal for a mix of Piste and Off Piste Telemarking.
For Resort/Alpine Piste skiing. Around resort, the Trab Volare carves surprisingly well in longer extended GS type turns but is not a tight carver due to the skis longer radius. Torsionally stiff, the Volare is quick edge to edge. To get the best from the Tab Volare you really want to be skiing Off piste most of the time, hard charging, fast, aggressive skiers on piste you may wish to consider a stiffer ski with more vibration damping.
