The Tecnica Bushwacker 110 Air Shell is a great value entry level Free Ride boot with a 110 AT flex. Tecnica have used P.U. in the shell of the Bushwacker instead of the pebax nylon used in more expensive Free Ride boots. The Tecnica Bushwacker is a three buckle boot with an innovative power strap that can be set in two positions to increase comfort when the boots are in walk mode. The Tecnica Bushwacker also has adjustable air bags in the shell of the boot to aid fitting and comfort. Although the liner in the Bushwacker is not a true thermofit like the Tecnica Cochise, we have a way of gently heating the inner to provide a custom fit.
For Free Ride/ Off Piste skiing. The Tecnica Bushwacker like all Free Ride boots is aimed at adventurous Free Riders and Off Piste skiers seeking more interesting terrain in and around the edge of resorts. The Tecnica Bushwacker is ideal for accessing off Piste runs from lift stations where booting and skinning is kept to a minimum. The Tecnica Bushwacker is essentially a standard ski boot with the addition of a walk mode and interchangable sole units. A set of alpine sole units are supplied with the Bushwacker for use in standard bindings and mountaineering soles for use in Free Ride bindings are available as an optional extra. Although the Tecnica mountaineering soles are Dynafit binding compatible, we do not recommend using this type of binding for all-round use as light weight bindings are less durable and have no safety release at the toe.
For Ski Mountaineering. Whilst the Tecnica Bushwacker is suitable for the occasional day tour or even overnight into a hut, it is not a Ski Mountaineering boot. Free Ride boots of this type tend to be stiffer in flex, much heavier and more cumbersome than a dedicated Ski Mountaineering boot. If your main skiing activity is Ski Mountaineering, the Tecnica Bushwacker is the wrong choice of boot. Free Ride boots are intended for Off Piste skiing in and around the edges of resorts where skinning is kept to a minimum.
