Silvretta 500 : Sivretta Ski mountaineering Bindings : The Silvretta 500 is the only ski mountaineering binding available that is designed to take ski boots or mountaineering boots. This is essentialy an access binding allowing mountaineers to get to and from climbing routes.Due to the crampon style front bail, there is no release mechanism at the front of the binding, only in the heel. Light weight at 1.6 kg per pair, the 500 is ideal for expedition use. The 500 bindings are also suitable for access use on less aggresive terrain where there may be an advantage to using mountaineering boots. (See advice below). Binding Brakes and crampons are available as extras.

Our Advice: Mountaineering boots lack the support and downhill control offered by ski mountaineering boots. Skiing down steep slopes in mountaineering boots particularly leather mountaineering boots can be hoppeless and at times dangerous.You should seek advise before choosing this option.
