The Scott Neo is a super charged free ride ski for accessing big mountain terrain. The Scott Neo is a ski that will charge down hardpack, bounce and float in the powder bowls and provide you with a fun all mountain experience. The Neo is ideal for intermediate to advanced skiers wanting to ski difficult backcountry and resort terrain.
The Neo's wood core has the added benefit of a Titanal metal laminate. This additional torsional rigidity increases the vibration damping at speed, as well as making the ski more responsive edge to edge. Performing well in most resort terrain, the Neo also has some impressive backcountry credentials. This ski has a wide footprint, with plenty of float and copes well in all but the deepest of snow. The increased torsional stiffness of the Neo helps it to blast through crud and difficult snow, making this a great ski for a mix of backcountry and resort based skiing. This is a good choice for skiers and ski mountaineers wanting a ski to perform well 60-70% of its' time in and around resort, without compromising too much off piste capability.
For Free Ride/Off Piste skiing. The Scott Neo is not the widest of skis by modern standards, so if Free Riding and off piste skiing are your main activity, you may want to consider a wider ski such as the Scott Venture.
For Ski Mountaineering. The Scott Neo is a great choice for the customer wanting a ski for a mix of resort based skiing and Ski Mountaineering. The Scott Neo is stable at speed and performs well on groomed pistes, yet is still realatively light in weight for Ski mountaineering use. Whilst the Neo is not as light as a specialist touring ski it is a good compromise for people wanting one ski to do everything. If you are buying a Neo for all-round use, we recomend fitting Fristchi free Ride pro bindings. Avoid Dynafit bindings for all-round use as they are not durable enough and have no toe release. It is also worth steering clear of the basic Marker Tour TR 12 bindings (made mainly from nylon)as they have also had some durability issues.
For Telemarking. Intermediate and advanced Telemarkers will find the scott Neo great for standard resot use. The Neo is quick edge to edge during short radius turns and stable at speed with a decent amount of vibration damping. The Neo works well with Rottafella NTN and Cobra R8 bindings. They also work well with 7 TM bindings, riser shims may be necessary.
For Resort/Alpine Piste skiing. Around resort, the Scott Neo is a great ski for people wanting to spend 70% of their time on piste. The Neo is an easy handling ski, slick edge to edge and stable at speed with a decent level of vibration damping. The Scott Neo also handles well in off piste terrain making this a good choice for a mix of piste and lift served off piste skiing. The Neo works well teamed up with either the basic Salomon/Scott bindings or the more robust Dynastar/Look Px 12 Lifter bindings.
