The new Scott Crusair is a fraction wider, with a slighly shorter turn radius than previous versions. The Scott Crusair is aimed at skiers, who constantly explore remote mountain areas, searching for untracked snow and new lines, they rarely take the ski lift and constantly summit mountains under their own power. The Crusair is the ultimate tool for Free Riders and Ski Mountaineers wanting a wide ski that does not compromise downhill performance for light weight.

With an air channel wood core the Scott Crusair has a responsive, light, nimble feel, facilitating effortless turns in powder. A carbon fibre wrap around the core, boosts the torsional rigidity of the ski, making the Crusair quick edge to edge on steep lines and able to blast though all but the worst of crud and breakable crust. Ideal for thrill seekers spending 80 % of their time off piste. A legendary ski with proven backcountry credentials, the Scott Crusair is justly popular amongst Free Riders, Telemarkers and Ski Mountaineers.

Scott have teamed up with colltex to develop an intergrated, light weight skin system, with hooks that fit into the holes at the tip of the ski. This system helps to reduce the problem of snow packing between the ski tip and the skin, as can happen on traditional skin systems. These skins are sold seperately to the ski.

For Free Ride/Off Piste skiing. These skis are not over stiff, so they might be over powered by those seeking super high speed crud-busting skis, however for most of us mere mortals the Scott Crusair is a great choice, performing superbly in a wide range of terrain and snow conditions. If you are purely after Off Piste performance and do not intend to ski on piste, it is also worth considering skis with less sidecut and a longer turn radius, however for general use, the Scott Crusair takes some beating.

For Ski Mountaineering. The Scott Crusair is popular with Ski Mountaineers seeking Free Ride performance in a lightweight ski. Easy to handle, performing well in a wide variety of snow and terrain, the Crusair is suited to most skier types. The Scott Crusair is ideal for you only want one ski to do everything, Ski Mountaineering, Off Piste Skiing and Free Riding. Customers wide skis with a longer turn radius may also wish to consider the Trab Volare.

For Telemarking. The Scott Crusair is suitable for both beginner and advanced Telemarkers. The Crusair carves well on piste and is ideal for most skiers. However hard charging, fast, aggressive piste Telemarkers may wish to consider a slightly stiffer ski with more vibration damping. The Scott Crusair is ideal for a mix of Piste and Off Piste Telemarking.

For Resort/Alpine Piste skiing. Around resort, the Scott Crusair carves surprisingly well on hard pack, holding an impressive edge on all but the steepest, iciest of groomers. However if you are a hard charging, fast, aggressive skier on piste you may wish to consider a stiffer ski with more vibration damping.
