The Scarpa Mobe Intuition is a hybrid between a traditional Ski Mountaineering boot and a Free Ride boot. Although Scarpa classify the Mobe as a Free Ride boot we feel the Mobe is really a more supportive Ski Mountaineering boot that will do a mix of touring and Off Piste skiing. The foot part of the Scarpa Mobe is a Ski Mountaineering boot with the rubber mountaineering sole perminently bonded to the boot. The Cuff of the Mobe is the same cuff as the one used on Scarpa's Typhoon Free Ride boot. The sole of the Mobe is not compatible with ordinary piste bindings.
For Free Ride/ Off Piste skiing. The Scarpa Mobe is different to all the other free ride boots in our range as the Mobe does not have interchangable sole units. This means that the Scarpa Mobe will only fit into Ski Mountaineering and Free Ride bindings such as the fritschi Free Ride Pro and the Marker Barron, the boot can not be used in ordinary piste bindings. The advantage of having the mountaineering sole perminently attached to the boot is that the soles are beter than standard Free Ride boots when you are off the skis scambling over rock or morraine. The rubber on these sole units also tends to be thicker, so tends to last longer.
For Ski Mountaineering. The Scarpa Mobe is a slightly heavier boot that the Maestrale but is also more durable and has a more supportive cuff for skiing. The Mobe has a stiff tongue for skiing support but a softer tongue is available as an optional extra if you wish to soften the flex of the boot for ski touring. The Mobe is aimed at powerfull skiers wanting a boot they can really push for technical Ski Mountaineering and Free Riding. The Scarpa Mobe is also Dynafit compatible although we do not recommend using Dynafit bindings as your one and only binding as they do have some durability issues. If used as a stand alone touring set up (not for general piste and Off Piste use) Dynafit bindings can be pretty reliable.
