Our Advice : What ever your activity, mountaineeing, ski touring snowshoeing or technical off piste skiing, the Rand 28 makes a great technical day pack; If you have very light weight equipment and are a proficient packer, then the Rand 28 will also do for hut touring. For most people however, the Rand 38 not the Rand 28, is probably the better choice for hut touring. The large stash pocket on the back of the pack, is large enough to take a shovel blade, skins, gloves etc...There is an independent set of ski carrying straps on the sides of the pack and the compression system doubles as a snowboard and snowshoe carrying system.
