New this season, Black Diamond have introduced the Boundary pole, a stronger version of their popular Flick Lock Traverse pole. The BD Boundary pole is aimed at more aggressive skiers and free riders wanting an adjustable ski pole with less flex than traditional touring style poles. Made from wider diameter 7075 aliminum pole sections, than Black Diamonds Traverse, the Boundary has increased strength with a minimal increase in weight.
Flick Lock poles have external clasps for adjustment instead of internal expansion cones. The Black diamond Flick Lock system is reliable and won't collapse/ self adjust, or freeze like standard, internal adjustable pole systems. Easy to adjust wearing gloves or mitts.
Two part adjustable poles of this type are better for skiing with than three part poles as they are less prone to damage and more rigid when pole planting.
Aluminum ski poles are generally stronger than carbon fibre poles and less likely to cut through/sheer when they come into contact with ski edges.

Tip : Keep some duck tape (gaffa tape) handy on your poles, useful for quick repairs and binding your skins to your skis when they come unstuck. It is worth checking the adhesive side of the tape each season if it is unused as it can become less sticky over time.
