Our Advice : The 2 part Adjustable Probe Pole features Black Diamond's reliable Flick Lock adjustment system. This tends not to be prone to the freezing up, or collapsing associated with internal adjustment cones and is easilly opperated with gloved hands. A stand alone avalanche probe is always better and a lot quicker to deploy than probe/pole combinations of this type. Carbon Fibre lower sections tend not to be as resistant to ski edges and are more suited to recreational use. Spare baskets and tips are available.
Tip : Keep some duck tape (gaffa tape) handy on your poles, useful for quick repairs and binding your skins to your skis when they come unstuck.
